Columbus stands on a pedestal where are seated statues, representing Piety, Science, Constancy and Prudence. Four bass-reliefs are between them: Columbus before the Council of Salamanca. Columbus erecting a cross on the first land discovered. Reception of Columbus at Barcelona, by the Kings of Spain on his return from the first voyage. Columbus in chains, returning to Spain. The pathetic inscription is located in the center of the pedestal: A Cristoforo Columbo La Patria ("to Christopher Columbus, the Fatherland").

The Milan tramway network is an important part of the public transport network of Milan, Italy. In operation since 1881, the network is now 170 kilometers long. This is the world famous Scala di Milano with a Peter Witt streetcar in front of it. This is a tram of American origin: it was designed for Cleveland, and then used all over the USA. These were introduced in Milan in 1928 in Milan. Now these are being phased out with newer models of trams being introduced. The tickets for the tram or any other means of transport in Milan,   can be purchased in the metro stops, kiosks or off-licenses. \

The Basilica della Santissima Annunziata del Vastato is a Catholic cathedral in Genoa , northern Italy ; its decoration employed the major baroque studios and artists in Genoa in the 17th century. It is named Vastato because the area where it was built was outside the walls of the city, in an area where houses had been demolished (devastated) for defensive reasons. In Latin , vastinium referred to a safety belt within the protective bastions. The church was begun by the Franciscans in 1520 in a site previously occupied by the small church of Santa Maria del Prato , belonging to the Humiliati . Works were however halted in 1537, and in 1591 the Lomellini family continued the reconstruction, directed by Taddeo Carlone . In the early 17th century the rich Baroque decoration was executed, with Andrea Ansaldo in charge of completing the works, and in particular the dome. The current Neoclassicist façade dates to 1830-1840s, designed by Carlo Barabino . The church was damaged by ...
