 Picking up threads from my earlier posts - I am 78+ and have had both the doses of vaccine....You would surely shut me up here saying yes you have already heard it a number of times. Tell us something new....

My response would be that I have been practically under 'flat arrest' on the fifth floor since the last one year....This time your shout would be louder- We all are passing through it. Tell us something new...

So here we go- I am thinking of joining one of the Covid Vaccinattion organised trips. It includes 24 days in hotels in Moscow & St. Petersburg plus two shots of Sputnik V + airfare+ breakfast+ limited local sight seeing - I blurted out in one breath. I have not been to Moscow though I went to St. Petersburg a few years back and that is where I lost my…

Suddenly you interrupt me with a dirty, quizzical look in your eyes, you lost your what, you want to know the details.

I lost my passport in St. Petersburg, in fact it got stolen was my innocent but true reply.

OK, OK. Your idea is surely funny but what is the issue then, you respond rather calmly this time.

 I want to know if it is OK to have two doses of Sputnik V after having two doses of Astra Zeneca Covishield.

Hmmm, you would surely suggest  ask a doctor.......

I have talked to a Doctor friend who is very up to date on Covid research around the world and remembers every word of what Dr. Fauci has uttered or muttered on Covid and his response has been discouraging, is my reply.

 What did he advise, you persist.

Well, well he said two things- firstly he is not aware of any such case having come to the notice of medical researchers anywhere in the world, and...

And what now - you shout having lost you patience…

I then confessed that the Doctor tells me not to complicate my remaining days on this planet. Forget it, he said, I reply almost sobbing.

By the way, I add showing you this photo, hoping this may help in softening you, have you seen photos of the Russian lady police?

After this no further conversation was possible except …..Waiting for Godot…..

Arthuna- a cluster of gems waiting to be 'discovered' - by K J S Chatrath

  I was lucky to have visited Arthuna, located in Banswada district of Rajasthan early this week. I took a train up to Ratlam and from there Arthuna by excellent road is about 130 kms. The place is a gem for archaeology lovers waiting to be visited and written about.I am grateful to my facebook friend and a remarkable traveller and blogger Mr. Sabya Sachi Ghosh for getting me interested in visiting Arthuna. I look forward to soon meeting Mr. Ghosh in person.  Previously known as   Utthunaka, Arthuna was the capital of Paramara rulers of Vagada during eleventh-twelfth centuries A.D. They patronized both Jainism and Saivism simultaneously, so they constructed a number of Siva temples. An inscription of the Paramara prince Chamundaraja records that he built a temple of Siva called Mandalesa in honour of his father in A.D. 1079.   According to Hobson-Jobson: The Definitive Glossary of British India , the word ‘ āchār’ finds a mention in CE 1563, in works by Garcia da Orta, a Portuguese physician, describing a conserve of cashew with salt which he refers to as ‘and this they call Āchār.’ In his book A Historical Dictionary of Indian Food , the late food historian KT Achaya notes that pickles fall into the category of ‘cooking without fire’; however, many pickles today do use heating or fire to some extent during preparation. Pickles in India have a rich legacy, which is clear when the historian further adds that a ‘Kannada work of CE 1594, the Lingapurana of Gurulinga Desika describes no less than fifty kinds of pickles’! Another later mention is found in the 17th-century Śivatattvaratnākara , an encyclopedia of ancient Indian lore of Basavarāja, King of Keladi.
