'Respectful salute to labourer martyr Arthi Pari of Cuttack, Odisha, World War-I' - by K J S Chatrath

 

Respectful salute to Odiya Indian martyr Arthi Pari. He was a labourer in the Indian Labour Corps, 110th Coy Service number 4sr, during World War-I. He died on 04/08/1914, 31/08/1921. He is commemorated on DELHI MEMORIAL (INDIA GATE), Face 9-11-15-16-18-20. He was son of Shapar Pari, of Bari, Cuttack, Bihar and Orissa.

Labourers were non arms carrying non-combatants and therefor sitting ducks and fodder on the front lines.
