'Guru Nanak Dev Ji's visit to Atasgah in Azerbaijan on his way to Mecca' - by KJS Chatrath

Last month I was blessed to see and photograph this in Atashgah Temple, State Historical & Architectural Reserve of Azerbaijan Republic situated at about 20 kms from its capital Baku. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, whose birthday falls today, is reported to have stayed there on his way to Mecca. More photos and a write up would follow soon on my blog.

I was in Odisha from 1968 to 2003, excepting the years that I was posted in Delhi/Shimla etc. Right from day one I had been fascinated by the existence of detailed record of Jagannath Puri temple and the Kings.   Unfortunately I could not get to visit the chambers in Puri where it is kept, much less to read it.                                            Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute Pune.  I am a self professed atheist and am not the religious or spiritual type. However last week when I came across  a free Youtube presentation on Upanishads in simple language from experts of Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute Pune, I was instinctively drawn towards these lectures. I have started watching those- for the sake of knowledge and not for seeking deliverance from the cycle of life and death. No, I am clear that I do not want Moksha.
