'Suzanne surprise au bain,1861, by Paul Cabet' - shared by K J S Chatrath
I saw this lovely sculpture in the Orsay Museum, Paris when I visited it in May 2022. It iss called 'Suzanne surprise au bain,1861, and was sculpted by by Paul Cabet. Jean-Baptiste Paul Cabet (1815 – 1876), was a French sculptor. He was the pupil of François Rude, his stepfather.
It is said that Bible narrates the story of Suzanne, who after bathing, refuses the dishonest proposals of two old men. They in turn accuse her of being adulterous in order to take revenge. Daniel proves her innocence saving the woman from old men’s lies.
