'100 photos of Khajuraho temples- 1/100' - by K J S Chatrath

                                                             Jhaveri Temple, Khajuraho

The Khajuraho Group of Monuments are a group of Hindu and Jain temples in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, India, about 175 kilometres southeast of Jhansi. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temples are famous for their nagara-style architectural symbolism and their erotic sculptures.

These temples at were built during the Chandella dynasty, between 950 and 1050AD. Only about 20 temples remain; they fall into three distinct groups and belong to two different religions – Hinduism and Jainism. They strike a perfect balance between architecture and sculpture.

I visited these temples for the first time in 1967 and thereafter a few times subsequently. I have taken many photos there. I plan to share 100 of those photos with my reader friends. I would be posting one photo everyday at random.

Khajuraho is connected by air, by train as well as by road with other parts of India.

Best time to visit is during the winters and summer sis better avoided.

I would recommend the two hotels run by Tousism Department of Madhya Pradesh Governments for stay.
