''Vintage ads & posters, No. 119 -Old poster of French LU biscuits, 1897' - shared by KJS Chatrath

Image
This is an old 1897 advertisement of LU. Lefèvre Utile, better known worldwide by the initials LU, is a French manufacturer brand of biscuits connected with the city of Nantes, which I was lucky to visit a few years back.   The brand is now part of a US confectionery company. 'Lefevre' is a French family name and 'utile' literally means useful.  ..... DISCLAIMER: This is a not for profit blog and no infringement of copyright laws is intended. 'The awe inspiring Catacombs of Paris - A Curtain Raiser' - by K J S Chatrath

Image
I am claustrophobic but I literally took courage in both my hands and visited the Catacombs of Paris, twice. ….These contain the remains of over 6 million (6000,000) Parisians. …..Work of shifting bones from various of Paris to the catacombs began in 1774. ….. The Catacombs are about 65 feet deep , roughly the height of a five-story building if you turned it upside down. It takes 131 steps to get to the bottom of the Catacombs....These are spread over 200 miles of labyrinthine tunnels which are believed to exist. Despite the vast length of the tunneled, underground world, only a small section of it is open to the public. This tiny portion, is known as Denfert-Rochereau Ossuary, or more popularly, “The Catacombs”.    A detailed write up with many photos will follow soon on my blog. 'The Balkan Kaleidiscope covering 8 countries in 14 days' - by KJS Chatrath

Image
In 2018, I undertook a road trip called ‘Balkan Kaleidoscope’ organized by Penguin Travels.   It covered   8 Balkan Countries in 14 Days, the countries being   Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosvo, Albania and Macedonia.   The trip started and ended in Sofia, Bulgaria.  Andrey Stratiev (in a green jacket in the photo) was the handsome, soft spoken and very knowledgeable Tour Director who accompanied the tour from beginning till end. He was one of the best Tour Directors that I have travelled with.     I may also say that we were in a small group with members from various parts of the world, with me representing 1.3 billion Indians. All the members of the Group were super friendly and helpful. Here they are:

'Mexican Food at Misol Ha, Chiapas, Mexico' - shared by K J S Chatrath

Image
Map source: Internet I have visited Mexico twice and hope to be able to visit it again. During the first trip in 2012, I had joined a Group organised by 'Mextrotter' ( https://mextrotter.com/en/ ). It was an excellently managed tour with a knowledgeable Tour Director and we travelled by road from Mexico City to Cancun.  During the trip we moved through the Chiapas state. One interesting part which we visited in Chiapas was the Centro Ecotouristico, Cascadas De Misol Ha. I would be sharing my experiences about that visit in a subsequent photo article. This one is just to share photos of various Mexican dishes available there. What I actually tasted would be shared in a subsequent blog.  And...sorry, I do not know the names of these dishes. Perhaps some expert will chip in with that information.   I find Mexican food to be good but needless to reiterate that Indian food is the best on planet earth! (Food photos sourced from https://www.misol-ha.com/en/#)
