'Ministry for Red Tape Reduction in Ontario, Canada' - by K J S Chatrath
We are aware and justifiably proud of how Indians settled in Canada are doing extremely well. At one stage the headline was about half a dozen persons of Indian origin beingmade Cabinet Ministers in Canada by Mr. Trudeau. There are many Indian origin Canadian members in the Parliament and in the states. This no longermakes news.
But a recent development from the State of Ontario needs to be shared. A young 32 year old Mr. Prabhjeet Sarkaria was the Associate Minister of Small Business & Red Tape Reduction (emphasis & colour supplied). He has now been elevated as the President of the Tresury Board of Ontario. In his place, another Canadian of Indian origin Ms. Nina Tangri has been made the Associate Minister for Small Business & Red Tape Reduction.
If my old brain remembers correctly, a few decades back, one of the States in India decided to change the colour of the tape on the cardboard on which files are placed, from the then existing red to green in order to do away with red tape. A study needs to be conducted to ascertain how successful was this experiment and whether it can be replicated in other parts of the country.
