'From Metcalfe House to Charleville' - K J S Chatrath

The training institute for senior administrative officers was established in Metcalfe House Delhi, not too far from where the river Yamuna flows. Subsequently it was shifted to Charleville Hotel buildings in Musoorie. First it was called the National Academy of Administration and subsequently rechristened as Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.

On the occassion of 50 years of shifting of this Institute to Mussoorie it was decided by the then Director of the Academy Shri Padamvir Singh to request officers who have had training there to write their memories of the stay and training there. I along with a very highly distinguished colleague Dr. VK Agnihotri were given the responsibility of putting the Memoirs in a book form with minor editing, wherever required.

When the book was ready, the then Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji released this book in a fuction in PM's House, New Delhi.

I must addruefully that I missed that function as I was abroad on that date.

Another issue pains me is that the premises of LBSNAA has been over constructed, sometimes at the expense of the openness that we used to feel on entering the premises. It is hoped that no further construction would be allowed in these premises.

This book, recalling memories- sweet and sometimes sour, and full of anecdotal stories is available for sale at LBSNAA's shop in Mussoorie as well as through Amazon.
