'Vintage Ads & Posters No.33, Shameful slavery; Massachutess' - K J S Chatrath
About 5,000 slaves a year were shipped to America from the Gambia
during the 17th and 18th centuries.
Height of shamelessness is the sketch of a kid along with a man about to be sold as a slave!
This ship came from Gambia and there was small pox on board at the time of its arrival in Massachusetts.
'In
addition to bringing enslaved Africans to New England, residents of
Massachusetts and Plymouth also participated in the broader Atlantic slave trade. At least 19 voyages in the 17th century departed from New England, purchased or captured slaves in Africa, and carried them to the Caribbean for sale.' (Source: Wikipedia)
Whipping was the common mode of disciplining the unfortunate souls during their ship journeys from Africa to the Americas and Europe. During their lives as slaves, whipping was the normal punishment.
SHAME! SHAME!
So this was 2-4 centuries ago. That s how it was. Why destroy buildings history in America now? Biting down cities buildings statues ? Why don’t those who hate such history move to Africa n build Africa instead of destroying what America was? Someone tell me an African nation where rest of the world wants to move to? Where they want to be African. All we see is Africans are running away from
ReplyDeleteAfrica to other nations for a better life.
Ah...so you are justifying slavery?
