  Respectful salute to non-combatant martyr Altaf Husain of First World War. He was a Clerk in the Indian Veterinary Corps. He was son of Ali Bakhsh of Ambala, Punjab. He died on 17/05/1921. He lies commemorated on Face 40 of India Gate, New Delhi.

    Respectful salute to martyr Allis who was a Labourer, Indian Labour Corps, 118th Coy. Service number 25; He died on 04/08/1914,31/08/1921 during First World War. He was son of Bastian, of Kak Kothunalai, Quilon, Travancore, Madras. He lies commemorated on Face 9-11-15-16-18-20 of India Gate, New Delhi.

  Ratnagiri, Odisha, India. Ratnagiri, meaning hill of jewels, is the site of a ruined mahavihara, once the major Buddhist monastery in modern Odisha, India. It is located on a hill in between the Brahmani and Birupa rivers in Jajpur district. It is close to other Buddhist sites in the area, including Lalitagiri and Udayagiri, and 100 km (62 mi) from the state capital Bhubaneswar and 70km from the former state capital Cuttack. These The Buddhist monuments were constructed from the 5th century CE onwards, with the last work in the 13th century, and the peak period of work done between about the 7th to 10th centuries. ....I have been lucky to have visited it twice.  

  I visited the Casa Museo Don Bosco a few years back. Originally the Don Bosco house in Ronda, Spain, was a private mansion. The last owners donated the house to the local Catholic Salesian congregation. From then on it was mainly used as a sanatorium for members of this religious order. The house is named after Don Bosco , the founder of the Salesians. Now it is a museum.  

  I visited the Cuttack English cemetery, known locally as the ‘Gora Kabar’, meaning the cemetery of the white people in 2006. The Gora Kabar, one of the biggest and oldest cemeteries in Odisha was set up in a 5 acres land by the banks of River Mahanadi on the outskirts of city then by the East India Company (EIC) in 1822. By the end of 1803, the EIC had defeated the Marathas and captured Barabati. The presence of English officials and their families became significant after this occupation, and hence the need for a graveyard. It was established in 1822 to bury British officials and their family members. Managed by the Odia Baptist Church of the city at present, the cemetery also houses the tomb of Madhusudan Das, known as the Madhusmruti. Das was a noted leader and is known as the architect of modern Odisha. A nephew of English author Somerset Maugham was buried here.
