Arezzzo Town   Over five years back I spent the Diwali Day in St. Severs Cemetery in France in the company of the   commemorative stones of 272 Indian soldiers  and non-combatants who died defending France during the World War-I. They were cremated/buried in this cemetery. They had spent over 100 years waiting for someone from their country to come and visit them. Italy has 3 World War-II cemeteries where Indian soldiers are lying commemorated - Arezzo, Flori and Acona.                  ...

'Bateswar Group of Temples, Morena, India - A Curtain Raiser' - by KJS Chatrath

Image
Last week I visited the Bateswar Group of over 200 temples in Morena district in Madhya Pradesh, India. These belong to the 8th - 10th century AD. These were lying in broken and delapidated condition till a few years back. Then the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) took upon itself to reorganise and put them back in shape under an initiative led by the ASI Bhopal region's Superintending Archaeologist Mr. K. K.   Muhammed.  As of now about 60 odd temples have been given a new life.  These two photographs show how the place was littered with broken stones aand how some of the renovated temples look today. Kudos to ASI.
